Mission For Maddie
Hi, my name is Madelene Braun. That's me on the left and my sister Alana on the right. My friends call me Maddie. I am in 8th grade at St. Cajetan. Next year I will be a freshman attending Mother McAuley. I love to play sports, I play, basketball, volleyball, softball, and cheerleading.
On December 13, 2007 I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). I have to have a bone marrow transplant. My younger sister, Alana, is a match. I take chemo every night orally.
In February, we had a blood drive for Life Source. Hundreds of people showed up, so many that we had to turn people away. We set a record for the most people. The support of my family and friends are overwhelming. People also volunteered for the bone marrow registry.
I know I will be able to fight this with the support of my family and my friends. My friends have been there since the beginning and I know that they will see me through this. They show their support by wearing orange wristbands and putting orange ribbons in front of their houses. With the love of my family I will get through this and with the help of St. Cajetan Parish.
Thanks everyone.
Love,
Maddie
